The Navigli district and Porta Ticinese have been important places in Milan for trade and commerce since the Middle Ages . Today this area is the heart of Milan’s nightlife , with many bars and restaurants staying open late into the night to the delight of both locals and visitors .
Navigli is the name of the triangle bounded by Milan Naviglio Grande and the Naviglio Pavese which is headed by the Porta Ticinese dock and covering a large part of the southwestern quadrant of the city .
